One book he wrote. One he is thanked in.
The second may be the better credential. It was written by the lawyer who led the case, years afterwards, and Eric had no say in what it said.
The Book He Wrote
Invested Leadership
Empower Your Team to Lead with Heart — with Stacie Monahan, 2025. Drawn from two decades of running a demanding operation without burning out the people who ran it.
The argument is simple and awkward: the gap between a team that follows instructions and a team that takes responsibility is not motivation, it is investment — specific, visible, occasionally expensive investment by the person in charge.
The Book He Is In
Just Harvest
Greg Francis — co-lead class counsel on the Black farmers settlement — published Just Harvest in 2021, with a foreword by former Agriculture Secretary Mike Espy.
Its acknowledgments thank Jim Farrin and Eric Sanchez, crediting the analytical and research work as integral to the case. That is the lawyer who ran the litigation, describing the operation from the inside, with nothing to sell.
The Record
Two books, one argument.
That the people doing the work decide whether the system succeeds.
