Eric Sanchez speaking on stage at the NCAJ Strategy Summit

Chaos into symphonies.

Fix the system.
Free the people.

Marine Corps veteran. Named inventor on 30 US patents. The operator behind one of the largest civil rights class actions in US history — $1.25 billion, 22,000 people, 380+ meetings in 66 cities across 23 states, in only six months.

Why Eric

Most speakers bring a message. Eric brings the receipts.

He joined a seven-person company and left two decades later as its Vice President of Strategy, having helped build it into the largest of its kind in the Southeast. He has run the messy middle of an organization at every size it passed through.

In between, he ran the nationwide claims operation for a $1.25 billion federal settlement as its data and technology lead. The team held 384 in-person meetings in 66 cities across 23 states and served roughly 22,000 people, using a geomapping system he built so 97% of them had a meeting site they could actually reach. The court awarded the maximum fee, citing the professionalism and diligence of the operation.

Then he turned the company’s internal systems into a legal CRM software business, and became a named inventor on 30 US patents spanning analytics, cybersecurity, data management and interface design. He is a Marine Corps veteran and the co-author of Invested Leadership.

Why It Matters

Operations is not a back-office word.

On December 8, 2010 Eric stood in the White House and watched President Obama sign the Claims Resolution Act. The work that followed was logistics — mapping, scheduling, routing, verifying — and it decided whether 22,000 people who had waited decades could actually file a claim.

Three years later, after his daughter Grace was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, the two of them campaigned for mandatory pulse-oximetry screening for newborns in North Carolina. Senate Bill 98 was signed into law in 2013. The Governor handed Grace the pen.

That is the argument underneath every talk, and it holds in any organization: the systems people find boring are the ones that decide who gets served and who gets missed.
